Respected Officer!
On 7th June ,2018 transformer supplying electricity to Block No 2, Askari Nazeer Apartments, Kashmir Road, Rawalpindi Cantt had a power surge of 440V, around 4.45pm. As soon as it happened all wiring from WAPDA installed meter to 3-phase circuit breaker short circuited, comprising all 6 installed meters. In addition to this individual resident of Block No 2 had multiple electronics equipment affected by power surge. Which includes 3-phase breakers (ALL 6 meters), Single Phase breakers, Split Air-conditions, Refrigerator, Fridge, UPS, Fan, Cordless Telephone Sets, Bulb Holders. Also, other small equipments were partially affected. Minimum damage occurred was Rs 7,000/- & maximum loss exceeded Rs 50,000/-.
WAPDA personnel were called immediately & in parallel electrician was called. WAPDA personnel quoted that they will not repair anything beyond WAPDA installed meter. All loss was beard by residents of block no 2. It didn’t just end here, high voltage surge continued many times in intervals afterwards, forcing residents to switch off major equipment.
Till then residents are experiencing voltage fluctuations, time to time, mainly in 1 phase. There is a continuous fear that it may affect anytime & the outcome this time will be unbearable. At times, it’s so low that split AC will not even turn on. On the other hand, there is a voltage fluctuation that may cause major harm anytime.
Till today WAPDA technicians have been called upon many times to rectify the issue with the transformer. They have also confirmed that it’s beyond repair condition, must be immediately changed. So, it is requested to the authorities that it may please be replaced with a high rating transformer, less it may cause an irreversible loss to residents.
Again, it’s solicited that replacement may be expedited by the WAPDA authorities, as it’s a continuous problem, without any alternate option.

Regards!
