Subject: URGENT COMPLAINT REGARDING SEVERE CONTAMINATION OF MUNICIPAL WATER SUPPLY AND SUSPECTED SEWERAGE CROSS CONTAMINATION IN BLOCK A, LATIFABAD UNIT NO. 6, HYDERABAD

Respected Sir,

I am writing to bring to your immediate attention a serious and persistent public health and sanitation concern being faced by the residents of Block A, Latifabad Unit No. 6, Hyderabad.

For the past nine (09) consecutive days, the municipal water being supplied to our locality has been severely contaminated. The supplied water is black in colour, foul smelling, visibly filthy, and appears to contain sewerage contamination. The condition of the water is so unacceptable that residents are unable to use it for essential domestic purposes, including bathing and performing ablution for prayer.

The situation has further deteriorated because the contaminated municipal water has entered and polluted household water storage tanks. Consequently, residents are not only receiving contaminated water through the municipal supply network, but are also facing contamination of their stored water, making the available water unsuitable for normal household use.

This appears to be a serious water quality and infrastructure failure, rather than an isolated incident. Residents of Block A, Latifabad Unit No. 6 have reportedly been experiencing similar incidents repeatedly for many years, in some cases almost every month. The recurrence strongly indicates that there may be an underlying technical problem involving the potable water distribution network, sewerage pipelines, damaged or leaking underground infrastructure, inadequate separation between water supply and sewerage lines, negative pressure within the water supply system, or possible ingress of sewage into the drinking water network.

From a technical and public health perspective, the possibility of cross contamination between the sewerage system and potable water supply network requires immediate investigation. Continued distribution of visibly contaminated water creates a serious risk to public health and may expose residents, particularly children and elderly persons, to waterborne diseases and other sanitation related hazards.

In view of the gravity and urgency of the matter, I respectfully request your good office to issue immediate directions to the concerned engineering and technical teams to:

Conduct an urgent on site inspection of the water supply and sewerage infrastructure throughout Block A, Latifabad Unit No. 6.

Identify the precise source and root cause of the contamination, including any possible leakage, pipeline damage, illegal or defective connections, pressure related issues, or cross connection between potable water and sewerage lines.

Inspect the relevant underground water supply and sewerage pipelines, joints, valves, chambers, manholes and connection points for leakage, structural damage or possible ingress of sewage.

Collect representative water samples from the affected supply points and arrange laboratory testing of the water quality to determine the nature and extent of contamination.

Take immediate corrective measures to isolate and rectify the source of contamination and ensure that only safe and properly treated water is supplied to the affected residents.

Thoroughly investigate why this problem has continued to recur and develop a permanent engineering solution, rather than addressing the matter through temporary remedial measures after each complaint.

After rectification, ensure that the affected water supply network is properly flushed, disinfected and tested before normal water supply is restored.

Sir, this matter should not be treated as an ordinary water supply complaint. The repeated occurrence of visibly contaminated water in a residential area represents a serious infrastructure, water quality and public health concern requiring immediate technical intervention.

I therefore respectfully request your personal intervention and kindly urge your good office to treat this complaint as an urgent priority matter and direct the concerned officers to undertake an immediate technical investigation and necessary corrective action.

A prompt and permanent resolution of this longstanding issue would provide significant relief to the residents of Block A, Latifabad Unit No. 6 and help protect the health and safety of the affected households.

Your immediate attention and intervention in this serious matter will be highly appreciated.

Yours faithfully,

Imran Shaikh
