The Honorable President, Habib Bank Limited, Head office Karachi Copy: The Manager Habib Bank Limited Annexe Branch Karachi The Director Foreign Exchange Department State Bank of Pakistan Karachi SUBJECT: EXTORTION BY THE Bank THROUGH HOLDING OF US$ 39575/- RECEIVED THROUGH TT NO M001-4570-000231 DATED 20-01-2017 Dear Sir, We respectfully submit that we/ our sister concern M/s Javaid Umar Enterprise are holding Bank account with Habib Bank Limited since the last three decades and enjoying good and trusted relations with the Bank . It is pertinent that during the last three decades, there is not a single instance where we have defaulted with the Bank or have put the Bank reputation in any controversy. However despite the above, we regret that the Bank has held our TT for US$ 39575/- received on 20-01-2017 from China a copy of which is enclosed without giving any reasons, explanations and without any adjudication by the State Bank of Pakistan or any other regulatory authority authorized to handle the foreign exchange laws. It is pertinent that there is no other Bank working in Pakistan which is using such means of holding Telegraphic Transfers from abroad without an adjudicated liability against an exporter. In view of the above, we request your honor to intervene and instruct the concerned Bank to credit the aforesaid TT in our account and also pay the mark up for 10 days failing to which we shall proceed in accordance with the provisions of law.
