I have a joint bank account No.12480012787201 at Habib Bank, Moon Market, Allama Iqbal Town, Lahore. I am residing in Canada at 155-CASTLEBROOK RISE N.E., CALGARY AB, T3J 1Y3 (my email is [email protected]). I applied in May-June 2020 for exemption of biometric verification and supplied all the requisite information except copy of valid passport which I did not have and instead I furnished a copy of my expired passport on which I actually traveled. The officer is harping on the same string and insisting on copy of valid passport in spite of the fact that some other bank has accepted and granted exemption on these very documents. However. after about six months of my application I informed him that I would like to bring the matter of inordinate delay to the notice of Banking Mohtasib which I could not but on this the officer began objecting differently i.e. that my signature does not with the bank record and also asked me to submit all documents duly verified by some agency which is not provided in the HBL Proforma to be filled in for submission of this information.As I am patient of Asthama and other diseases and am under treatment I did not renew and/or got new passport because being nearing 83 years of age and also patient under treatment I do not foresee to visit Pakistan in the near future. Moreover, I cannot travel alone. Therefore I did not unnecessarily on Passport at this stage and I dot qualify for Canadian passport also. The officer again and again insisting on supply of valid passport with newly imposed conditions of verification of documents. By these repeated unethical demands I was mentally tortured and it has bad effects on my health. When other bank has shown relaxation why this bank does not do so. At last finding no alternative and in the best interest of my health I informed the officer that I would not pursue the matter any further and revert to my God Almighty Who is more powerful than anyone on earth. By such an obstinate the bank has deprived the other joint account holder and co-signatory the right of operating account and withdrawing fund. Is this not a financial terrorism on the part of HBL. Such an attitude by such officers of HBL would surely cast reflection on the performance of bank and customers would surely divert their funds to other banks which are more flexible and possess amicable and loving behaviour. I have much to explain but as the essence has been explained I would humbly request that with the information supplied my account may be unblocked enabling the co-signatory to operate and withdraw so as to ultimately get rid of this bank. Your goodself will appreciate that people deposit their hard earned money in banks so as to withdraw in time of need and not for unnecessarily blocking and hanging the customers in air. My case has been delayed without any cogent reason and insisting of the officer on valid passport copy is devoid of any substance. Whenever, a man can travel, new passport can be applied for then. In case I do not visit Pakistan in the near future and do not supply copy of valid passport, where my deposited hard earned money will go. Is not against the fundamental rights. My God can do anything and I wish that my comments may also kindly be brought to the notice of higher authorities and owner of the bank so as to advise their officers to show laxity as far as possible. For the time being please do help me in unblocking my account so as to get rid of this bank by closing the account. the clause of valid passport should also be changed as it has no relevance whatsoever. I am Wg Cdr Nadeem Mushtaq Siddiqui (Retd). I am holding CNIC 37405-0255560-1. I am having a joint account # 0000287900228403 with HBL PAF Faisal Branch, Karachi for over a decade. Same was used for my pension. However, the pension of July was not credited to my account due to being a joint account. I was advised to open a Single account to resume the deposit of pension.
I reside in UAE for over 12 years and presently constraint to visit Pakistan for opening the new account. On the other hand the pension can resume only on opening the single account. I was apprised by HBL HQ Ops that an account may be opened through HBL UAE by submitting required documents to them for onward dispatch to the concern HBL branch in Pakistan. I discussed the issue with Ops Manager HBL PAF Faisal Mr Zohaib Hasan, who advised me to approach through this website for the new single account opening from UAE, which I understand can be done, provided I receive an email to the effect from HBL Pakistan, along with all the forms that need to be filled, the list of required documents and description of procedures to be adopted.
It is, therefore, requested to kindly let me know through email the above stated requirement.
