My complaint is against M/s Kaymu.PK thru which I tried to make an online purchase. Below are the facts related to my purchase.

1: The order was made online on 14th December, 2016. I received the order on 19th December and discovered that it was not what I had ordered.

2: The terms & conditions mentioned whilst making purchase had a provision for return or exchange within 3 days

3: I immediately contacted the Kaymu team and they confirmed that they will “resolve” the issue within 48 days

4: After numerous follow-ups and phone calls I was told that they “cannot contact the seller” and hence cannot do anything.

5: My submissions are as under:

-Whilst making the purchase Kaymu.PK at no stage mentioned that terms and conditions related to return / exchange of the product are subject to any “SUB” specific terms and conditions (in this case they not being able to contact the seller). I did not came across or agreed to any such terms and conditions

-Whilst I understand that KAYMU.PK does not have any control over the quality of the product, the fact that they host the products on their website and guarantee faulty product’s return or exchange does make them responsible to ensure that the terms and conditions being promised are adhered to and consumers are not swindled in the name of ‘online shopping’

– All companies engaged in e-commerce are required to keep records of their vendors in-line with the directives issued by Ministry of IT. These safeguards are in place and in-line with global standards which assures consumer protection and also in specific contexts ensures that space for e-commerce is not used for trade or promotion of illegal products or services which can be used in anti-state activities such as terrorism

– M/s Kaymu.PK has failed to ensure its moral as well as legal responsibilities in this regard and I will appreciate if formal action is taken against them so that a few rotten eggs do not hamper the growing electronic trade in Pakistan which has directly or indirectly benefitted thousands of individuals and companies.
